Letter of Invitation

You are hereby invited to take part in a joint meeting of Icelandic Health Authorities and the World Health Organization (WHO) on emerging therapeutic options in spinal cord injury.The meeting will be held at the headquarters of the Foreign Ministry of Iceland in Reykjavik June 1st and 2nd 2001.

The goal of the meeting is to present to WHO the research activities of researchers throughout the world and who are involved, directly or indirectly, in treating human subjects who have sustained spinal cord injury.

Aprxm. 20-30 researchers are invited to take part, both recognized authorities in the field of spinal cord research and researchers outside the main stream of work, and who some have had a hard time getting heard in the international research community.

It is estimated that researchers will introduce their work for one and a half day and half a day will be for discussing proposals that are intended to be introduced at the meeting. Kindly acquaint yourself with the proposals and prepare you for taking part in the discussions because your opinion could lead to WHO´s taking special interest in this domain of cure.

The language of the meeting will be English and translators will be available for non-English speaking participants.

It has been decided to pay for the participants air flight economy class and hotel accomodation in Reykjavik for three nights and meals during the meeting. If you prefer to travel otherwise or stay longer in Reykjavik, that will fall outside the budget of the Committee.
